“The Work of God” John 6:24-35

“The greatest thing since sliced bread!” That was a common term to describe an exciting innovation, especially if it was a timesaver. The first use of a commercial bread slicer was right here in Missouri, at the Chillicothe baking company in 1928. In Jesus earthly ministry, bread was a staple of society, and it comes up in many contexts. In John’s Gospel, Jesus makes seven “I Am” statements that tell people just who he is. The first one comes in John chapter six verse thirty-five. “I am the bread of life.” Let’s explore just what he meant by this in Sunday morning’s time together. We might just discover there is something greater than sliced bread. See you Sunday!
