“Bread From Heaven” John 6:51-58

Pentecost 13B, August 18th, 2024

What is the sermon about? . . .

“Unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” To us this sounds more than a little bit disturbing and horrifying. This scripture describing Christ as the true food and drink, reads more like something from a macabre tale written by Edgar Allen Poe than a biblical text. However, to the people hearing this in the first century it made perfect sense in their understanding of how sacrifice worked. The question for us is how is this relevant today? Why is it meaningful and purposeful for us as Christ’s Disciples in 2024? How does it relate to our current wants, needs and responsibility? Join us in this journey of exploration. See you Sunday!
